It is time to take the main sail off and have it cleaned. We get to the boat, and realize it is nothing like our last boat. We looked at how the battens/mainsail is attached to the cars in the mast, realized that neither of us had any idea how to get the main off and decided to reach out for help BEFORE we make a mess of things. Which is totally different than our usual SOP. I attached two pictures of the connections of main to the mast. The pins seem to be the logical place to separate the sail from the cars. Can anyone shed some light on how we get the sail off?

Remove Mainsail
Re: Remove Mainsail
Hi Jim
On my boat we had a batt-slide system. The cars were inserted and taken off at the bottom of the slide.

Re: Remove Mainsail
Hey Jim,
Looks like you have a Tides Marine "Strong" main sail track. As Dan said the slides should come out of the track at the bottom. No need to remove each slide from the sail. If memory serves, there was a pin thru the bottom of the track that when removed allowed the slides to slide out of the bottom.
