PDQ 36 LRC Backstay question

We're looking into purchasing a cat; PDQ 36 LRC models are on the list. We noticed that the LRC model has its backstay chainplates usually half covered by water. What maintenance issues and failures have people had with immersed backstays?
Thank you in advance.

Hi:

We have a 1996 Capella (outboards) 36 and it also sits with the chainplates in the water. We have never had any issues. We cover them with paint them and dit put Lanacote on them for a few years, but they dont seem to have any issues.

We love our 36. Let me know if we can answer any questions.

Best,
Eric

I have corrosion on my backstay chainplates at the water line. I believe the PO used cheap stainless when the rigging was replaced several years ago which is why I now have a problem. I'll be replacing mine at next haul-out. I don't believe corrosion is a common issue when proper material is used on the chainplate.
