Staying onboard in dry dock

Post by warrenthames »

I’m hauling out to bottom paint and plan to stay onboard while working on my 91 pdq 36. Has anyone done this? Would it ne harmful to the boat to stay aboard while hauled and blocked for 5 to 7 days?? Thank you in advance for your advice.

We're on board now, for the 8th year, as we get Windrush ready for the winter cruising season. Usually for one or two weeks both at the start and finish of the cruise. There are several PDQs here at Westland in Titusville, all stay aboard on the hard while boat chores are completed. Good luck and all the best.....

Thank you for the reply Bruce. May I ask how you are blocked? I’m planning on blocking under keels and hulls rather than under bridge deck for 5 to 7 days. Is anyone blocked this way that’s staying aboard?

We're sitting on the keels, 4 supports under the bridgedeck, one under each bow and one under each stern (8 supports in total). I don't believe the keels are designed to carry alot of the weight. Again, all the best.....
