Can 2019/2020 manual tilt Yamaha 9.9s be used on a PDQ 36?

Friends, I have been considering repowering our 36, replacing the old Yamaha 9.9s with a pair of new manual tilt motors. A major motivation is that I am considering keeping the vessel in salt water rather than inside the locks in Seattle. The old 9.9s have trouble with salt accumulation. The distributor for Yamaha says that there is no way to rig them for remote start but I have some trouble believing there can't be a hack to do it. Anyone have idea or suggestions?
Thanks, Marc

Try Andy Jr. at Shipyard Island Marina (800-213-3323). Many PDQ owners have gotten motors from him.

He will adapt the handles and wiring harness so that it is a drop-in fit.

This is the procedure.

Good luck!

Hello
I wanted the same setup, and it is doable.
I bought my Yamaha engines and wiring harness from Inflatable Boat Specialist ( inflatableboats.net)

Yamaha T9.9GEXH-6AVKX-1004781...
6AVKX1006863 Remote Refit Kit
Adapter Harness for powerhead
Achilles HB 315 DX-ACH00129A111
Yamaha Twin Engine Key Switch

It took some back and forth to get the right harnesses, but very straight forward.
My info is 9 years out of date.
If you have any questions my number is 407 766-8405
Good luck!
Rich
