Whisker Pole for "MOJO"

Posted by Jack Coulter on December 03, 1999 at 10:57:15:

Hi Guys (and Ladies) I need to know what length whisker pole to install on our
36, I prefer telescoping rather than fixed. So, if anyone has bought one, I
would sincerely appreciate mfg. and model that works. Also, I need to know the
height from the base of the mast to install the ring, I would rather not install
a track just to keep things simple. Thanks Much/Jack on "MOJO"

Hi Jack,
Have you tried leading the jib sheet outboard to the toe rail through a snatch
block? Maybe you won't even need a whisker pole

Thanks to Marc and Colin, I finally got to try your suggestions on not using a
whisker pole, and going with a couple of blocks on the toe rails. It worked
great! My wife spent the whisker pole money on a new washer and dryer!!!
Rats!!Regards/Jack on "mojo"

Like Marc, we run the sheet through a block on the toe rail, back to two blocks
on the toe rail either side of the stern cleat, then up to the winch. The
position of the forward block depends on wind direction - well aft on a beam
reach, to about ten feet from the bow with a following wind
