canadian sales tax

The sales tax in Ontario is 8 percent Provincial tax and 6 percent Federal - or 14 percent total however food is not taxable so you should not hesitate to provision while in Canada.

Leaving Canada

We took delivery last year in Whitby. We bought our dinghy from Martin at Port Whitby Marine. He has great products, service, and prices. We had a good exchange rate as well. Also, keep in mind that if you are not Canadian, most sales taxes you pay there are refundable. Martin had all the forms and info and we were able to get a refund of all sales tax on equipment we purchased from him.

I kept my receipts from purchases from a trip to Quebec and the government only back a small percentage of the taxes. Certain items such as hotel rooms are not tax refundable. I do not know about the Engllish speaking Provinces.
