Gelcoat Polish

The crew that I used to polish our MV34 has always told me that they could not get a good shine from the Gelcoat. Today they declined the job, saying that it is just too hard and that no matter what they do, it looks chalky.

Can anyone recommend a product/process to get a decent shine (I don't care if it is perfect, just want to protect the boat and keep her looking good).

Any input would be appreciated.

Our PDQ 36 was not finished with gel coat, it was painted.

I have been using sealants rather than wax and much prefer them. They are much easier to use than wax and I have been very satisfied with the results.

The products that I would recommend are Pro Polish from Shurehold or Rejex. Both are readily available on line. You need to clean the surface well before applying. Both products have recommended products for doing this.

Are all PDQ 34's painted, rather than gelcoated? The hull and topsides?
