Prop Zincs make/model

Just crossed to the Exumas & diving down found both prop nut zincs missing! One had just the bolt still in place, so they likely were eaten away while we were in a FL marina getting ready the previous month.

I'm more familiar with sail drives, so this type of zinc is new to me. Looking on-line it seems that I can replace just the zinc anode BUT only if its compatible with the "frame" of the zinc?? And are some metric thread bolts & some non-metric? Since I may have to have replacements flown into Staniel or George Town, I'd like to order the right replacement the first time!

Thanks.

hi,

do you have line cutters? if the answer is no, you may want to think about a normal collar shaft zinc. years ago we modified our prop nuts to have the bolts coming from the shaft side. this works but you still have the problem of lining up the cotter pin. we switched to the collar zinc this season and so far so good.

anodesThis part is available at West Marine. The model number for the complete replacement of the anode is 132599 (7/8" thread, 1 1/4" shaft with an outside diameter of 2 5/16"). Anode only: 132664.
The replacement rudder anode part model number is 217919 (3 3/4" diameter and 1/2" thickness).

Russ,

Gregg changed mine to a Camp P-5. It's a different style altogether but it does solve the problem of them falling off. Maybe these could be more readily available in the Bahamas. We plan to be around the Abacos in mid March, hope we can cross paths.

PS: I several of the original style at home I would make a deal on, but I won't be there for a while.

I had better internet the following day & found extensive info on this forum from back in 2006-07. Sounds like several possible solutions when we haul next, but will try to get some shipped down to George Town as a temp fix.

Thanks to all & maybe we'll cross paths when we're in the Abacos if you're still there in April.
