It usually varies with your environment. Our boat has used Pettit Ultima SR 60 for at least 6 years and we have liked it. We are docked in brackish water but get pure salt water for months at a time when we cruise.

The most recommended anti-fouling paint brand in my area (Bellingham, WA) is Seahawk. I chose their "Cucote" paint based on a strong recommendation by Seaview boatyard where we do our annual haulout. We had them put 2 coats on last Jan. See: https://www.seahawkpaints.com/product/cukote/

Practical Sailor magazine does regular reviews. I have used many of the paints and I think there comments correct, depending on the area.

West Marine PCA Gold (private label Petite SR40) is a heck of a deal when it is on sale for $145/gal in the spring. A good 2-year paint (with two coats). Micron 66 is great if you are in saltwater.

Tampa Girl is in Tampa Bay which I feel is a very aggressive environment (lots of nutrients for barnacles, etc.) and we have had good experience with Seahawk Biocop. Easily get 2 years per bottom job with monthly brushing by a diver.

Seahhawk was putting TBT in Biocop, which is quite illegal. The exec went to prison and the company paid a big fine.

I'm sure it worked good, but I'm not interested in buying from Seahawk after that. This was NOT an accident.

"“New Nautical was prohibited from manufacturing Biocop for domestic sales after Dec. 1, 2005, the effective date of cancellation, and was prohibited from selling Biocop to anyone in the United States after Dec. 31, 2005,” the indictment said. “Contrary to EPA authorization, New Nautical continued to produce Biocop, and continued to use its sales team to sell and distribute Biocop in the Southern District of Florida and else-where in the United States.”

The parties involved “concealed New Nautical’s unlawful production and sales by falsely representing to their customers and their primary distributor, M.Y.D., that the Bi-ocop sold after Dec. 31, 2005, was in compliance with EPA authorization and federal law,” the indictment read.

“By producing and selling Biocop, an unregistered pesticide, for domestic use and ap-plication, and by concealing such acts from the EPA and customers, New Nautical and Refinish Line and their co-conspirators derived pecuniary gains in excess of $2,000,000,” the indictment read."
