Prop pitch for 110hp engines

Post by lgeller »

My boat is currently being upgraded to the 110's. Does anyone have the specifications for the correct prop pitch for these? My mechanic says that an extra 10HP is not a big deal, and the current pitch may be OK, but it seems that a 10% change in HP should warrant a different pitch.

Any help is appreciated.

Larry,

I believe the 110 hp is a 3200 rpm motor vs the 3800 rpm 100 hp that came out. I think that will make a difference.

See "Proper props for PDQ 34 with 100 HP Yanmars?". There were some comments there about the props for the 110 HP engines.

Larry,

We have the 110 hp Yanmar diesels (4JH4-HTE) on His Idea. Our props - on the boat since new in 2007 - are 17 x 17 4-bladed 'Hi-Torq'.

Cheers,

John
