Hey Sailkane,

The original sound insulation we used at the factory was Soundown. I have replaced the insulation on a few boats and it is a bit time consuming, but looks great when done.

A few tips:
1 remove and use the originals as a patterns if possible
2 a vacuum helps remove dust and acetone with a proper mask and gloves help with the residue
3 wrap all the cut edges with aluminum tape. The manufacturer says that the degradation is from ozone absorption
4 contact spray for foam from home depot will secure the new insulation in place
5 any insulation hung upside down will benefit from a few stainless steel fasteners installed with large fender washers for extra support

Hope this helps
James

We replaced ours a year or so ago. We bought the foam panels and installation kit from either Defender or Jamestown distributors. In addition to what James states, we also installed the aluminum tabs/spikes on the horizontal panels as well as the overhead. Make sure all of the old contact cement is cleaned from where the spikes are epoxied. Use a razor to cut the panels as they have a tough rubberized core sandwiched between the foam.
