what type of material did you clean with the dremel tool (i.e. carbon buildup)?

No carbon buildup, just rust
Used a small drum stone tool and a small drum sanding cylinder in the Dremel to remove rust.
Then mate the two pieces to see if the wheel spins freely

gregg at stuart yachts has had a set of cast stainless elbows made up. they look really good.

I assume you’re talking about the exhaust elbows now.
They are available online cast from 316 as at a very reasonable price. I’ve had them on AllezCatII for a few years with no problems

Yes, I bought them online at E-Bay
Go to E-Bay and search for Yanmar Exhaust Elbow
It is listed as L3 SS Exh Elbow replaces 129673-13552 @ $270. ea
Be sure to get new exhaust gaskets also
Hopefully you won't twist off a stud which involves removing the turbo and taking it to a machine shop!
