Cabinet Storage?
Re: Cabinet Storage?
A related question... has anyone added shelves to any of your berth storage cabinets on the Port or Stbd sides? Not the tall clothing lockers... just the cabinets. Some of the cabinets are rather tall and leave a lot of space unused when storing clothes, etc. We've tried some stackable racks that work fairly well, but I keep wondering if we could come up with a better way to manage the cabinet space.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
My admiral purchased cloth boxes from Walmart that are used to store seasonal plates and bowls of various sizes (like Christmas dishes, etc.) These have clear plastic windows and stack nicely in the larger lockers to segregate stuff like bathing suits, shorts, T-shirts. etc. I think there might even be a pair of (gasp!) socks in there.
One size of boxes fits nicely on the shelves midships. We keep all sorts of lightweight items in there.
One size/shape is shown in this link:

Re: Cabinet Storage?
The following link is to a 2004 PDQ’34 that has a washer dryer combo in that space. You can see the cabinet box is quite a bit deeper and the upper seating area is reduced to accommodate the width. Hey, it’s a boat.....you can do pretty much anything with enough cash!

Re: Cabinet Storage?
On adding a cabinet to the dead space to the port side of the Liquor Cabinet:
The Legendary Hull #29 has stepped forward once again to be the guinea pig, under the precise operational and engineering management of the esteemed and talented James Power.
We're doing this in two stages:
Stage 1: Cut an exploratory hole. James prefabricated a door 12" high x 11" wide in a frame. Once the hole was cut, he was able to determine that the interior bulkhead was non-structural and cut some away to open up the space. It's pretty big in there ! And can be opened up further. In Stage 2, a larger door can probably be the same height as the Liquor Cabinet door, although the shifter cables will be an obstacle.. James is finishing off the door latch, and will do measurements for Stage 2.
Stage 2 (next year): James will finish off the cabinet with the larger door.
