Bow roller quick release pin

Post by AMCarter3 »

Does anyone know where I can buy a couple of Stainless Steel quick release pins for securing our anchor in the bow roller? I found what I think is the correct pin. It's model "QRP 5.0" (5" useable length between the ring and the ball) made by Kingston Anchors Marine in Ontario. I have not yet found a Kingston dealer that can supply this exact pin or a similar size pin by any other brand. (see: https://kingstonanchors.com/collections ... lease-pins)

That may be IT, John. Good find! I looked at Defender and did not see this there. I’ll double check at Defender on how they are measuring the length. I also found another source this evening for $4.50 ea.

Found it at McMaster-Carr.com -- ordered two at $7.42 each. This is a BIG hardware company with good customer service.

I may be a bit late, but another consideration on these “quick release” anchor pins … they aren’t if you ever mess-up like I did last month! When preparing to anchor, not only did I forget to pull the pin, I somehow touched the windlass in the wrong direction for a second which instantly bent the pin. It took over 5 minutes with a hammer & screwdriver to bang it out. In some situations, it could have been a big problem.

I’ve now gone back to using a piece of line instead.
