FUEL ECONOMY 11O ENGINES

Post by ONEEYEDJACKASS »

Looking for some info on the fuel burn of the 110 Yanmars. I have a bit of data but would like to here from others. Also, thoughts on long range running on one engine? We have PPS shaft seals and were told by PPS that 8 kn and under were ok. Not sure if its really worth it.
Thanks,mark
Oops forgot our data.
On our trip down coast from San Francisco Bay to Channel Islands harbor we averaged 4.2 GPH (35.3hrs 147.8 Gal) approx 413 Miles at little over 10 KN.

Hi Mark !

Here's a page from the Rhumb Line Yacht Sales website. Fuel economy info is at the bottom.

Hope this helps !

Hi Mark,

This is a bit late, but hopefully of interest.

We've put about 1500 hours on our 110's over the past 11 years, and have averaged 3.0+ statute miles to the US gallon over that period. This covers a variety of speeds (including idling periods), but the majority has been at a 'fast cruise' of 15-16 mph. I'm not sure what that translates into in terms of gallons per hour. I'll leave that calculation to you.

We've used one engine only on the rare occasions when we've had to, so I can't offer any insight on that question.

For a spacious power vessel of her size, the PDQ's amazing fuel economy continues to impress us.

Cheers,

John

Hi John
Not too late at all. Thanks for the info. I believe we're real close to 3.0 mpg also. I'm guessing fast cruise is about 2400 rpm. Maybe I'll do some testing with one engine to see what's up.
take care, mark 951-314-7931

Hi Mark,

It's interesting to hear your mileage is similar to ours, as there are not many 110 equipped PDQ's around.

For our fast cruise we typically run at 2600 RPM, which is about 80% of the rated maximum for the 110's. This seems to be a good sweet spot for our engines.

Happy cruising!
