Transom Steps

Posted by Marc Gershel on February 06, 2001 at 17:31:00:

Hi Everyone,I am going to raise the bottom step to the level of the next step
up. I,m going to try to do it in fibreglass. Has anyone tried doing this. If so,
how did you fill the void of the bottom step? How did you attach the new
piece, and seal it? I would appreciate anyones ideas on this. I'm building a mold
for it now,& hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have some finished pieces to
work with

Hi Roger, The early model 36 had its 1st step slightly higher than the
waterline. When the boat got wieghted down for cruising, the step was always wet,
& dirty & slimey. The factory saw what was happening, & in later models made the
1st step about 8" higher. I'm trying to get the same results by raising my step
to that level. Some people have already done this using various different
methods

What are you trying to cure? Were you having problems with the lower step?
