Spinnakers

Posted by Grog on March 03, 2001 at 04:28:00:

Co-owners John Timson and Alan Grogono would like to learn more about people's
experience with spinnakers:[/i]

We are thinking of buying a used symmetrical spinnaker about 40' luff and 24'
foot (If you have one for sale let us know!!). We are interested in relative
merits of symmetrical vs. assymetrical - anyone tried both and compared?
We are interested in methods of sheeting/handling symmetrical spinnakers:[/i]

1) Snatch blocks vs regular?
2) Secured to what?
3) Using fixed length/adjustable straps/lines?
4) any other tips/advice?
Thank you

Thank you. I had used the search and reviewed all of the previous letters. Some
of the points that interested me had not been fully covered, e.g.,
Symmetrical vs assymetrical
Merits of Foredeck Cleat vs Side-Rail
Block on adjustable rope vs fixed length strap

I should have made all of this clearer

Thank you again

There have been some discussions in the past on some of these topics. I suggest
you do a SEARCH of the board with spinnaker as the keyword. The search function
is accessed from the link at the top of the boards main page
