Bow holds

On SeaPaws the two storage areas forward, have a drain hole on the inside of the
hull at the aft end of the compartment. Are the other boats the same and if so,
is there some type of one way valve to stop water from coming in as the bow goes
down when the boat is going through waves. I have put a dingy drain plug in the
holes till I install a flapper valve during the winter. Just wondering what the
newer boat have

Thanks for any coments

My guess would be that you are getting water in from around the top seal. I
delivered a 36 and it had a line stuck in the drain hole durning a period of
heavy rain. We were not taking water "in" because the drain hole was plugged

The water in the storage area aparently then worked its way into the "air tight"
compartment and that was half filled before we found the problem. The drain line
for the hatch opening was plugged, that was the culprit for the water getting
into the storage area. We cleared the drain line and put vasalean on the air
tight seal and all was well

Just another way to look at the problem.

I own hull 48 a PDQ32 and it has drain holes. I have never had water enter thru
there. The port locker is used for propane tank storage and should never be
plugged if propane is present. That hole is a vent for escaping propane.Propane
is heavier than air.

I found water in my hull that had seeped thru the deck plate in that
compartment. I guess when having several people on the bow, water would come in
that area when going through waves and before draining out some would get in the
bottom hull section. I noticed the boat lower in the water and checked that
compartment finding it over half full. This took a long time to get there and
not a noticable drastic change was seen. My lockers stay damp never totallying
drying. The propane is in a stern compartment so that is not a worry.
