Windlass

This year I added a SL 600 Sprint windlass to my PDQ32 hull #20. The windlass
performed well for about 6 anchoring locations (spread over 3 weeks)or more

Then it started to work more intermittantly. The contactor would click but the
motor wouldn't go. After returning from my cruise of 6 weeks and
trouble-shooting further I have discovered that the problem is with the motor

Once it is running it is OK. But if you stop and then try to start again it
often will fail to restart. If you rotate the motor by hand while holding the
button down it will restart. Has any one else had a similar problem. I have
checked the voltage right at the motor and it is getting 13.1 volts even when it
wont start. I am going to the Newport Boat show on the 16th and will try to talk
to the SL people there but would like to know if any one has had a problem like
that.

I installed a Sprint 1000 on the PDQ36. It worked well for one yr and then would
only power up, not down. Simpso Lawrence replaced it free with a new unit
although changing it out was a chorre. I like the unit.

I'm not sure how many people have this windlass on their boats. Please post a
solution if SL finds one for this. Thanks

Received word today that Light House Marine (they handle the warranty work for
SL) is shipping my unit back to me after replacing the motor. I hope it works
better next season. It seems to work ok when it works!
