Thanks - - it appears rebuild is the way to go. New turbo = $1,500+, Mack Boring rebuild = $750, Cheetah Turbo (Rye, Ny) = $500. Unit was sent to Cheetah Turbo and is due back before 9/30/09 - - If there are any issues with these guys, I'll be sure to post. Otherwise, no news is good news.

Installed the turbo that was rebuilt by Cheetah Turbos in Rye NY. Ran like a champ from Ocean City to Ft Lauderdale via the Chesapeake. Only cost $400 compared to twice that for Mack Boring. Cause was water ingestion - - a leaky seal + faulty bilge float = LOTS of water thrown around the engine room. Was running WOT as we were approaching home at the end of an all day cruise. Noticed a power loss and looked back to see dark smoke from the port exhaust.

Installed a 2nd set of bilge pumps (Rule) in parallel with the factory installed pumps. If one pump float trips, BOTH pumps in that hull will go on. Also installed a new security system with water detection alarms. Hope I have everything covered now.
