Sagging Tramp Corners

Post by thinwater »

I've noticed quite a few PDQs with sagging inside corners on the tramps. Mine was starting to pull out of the extrusion when I got mine. With a little reinforcement, it is doing much better, after a summer of hard use.

I'm sure it could be neater; I didn't use polished SS and I could have tied the knots underneath. Well, I get the mill finish SS free and I value function over appearance.

Enjoy. Perhaps your tramp will last a few seasons more.

How are they normally done? This is how ours was attached:

We took lots of pics when we disassembled everything for winter storage. :)

Normal? Who knows.

Mine was laced through 2 holes when I got it. I did not add the holes for the bolts - they were existing and I assumed they must serve some function in holding the bridge deck together, but I doubt that is very true. There is a lot of glue in the joint. Or perhaps the PO of your boat removed them and added shackles. The shackles do give vertical support. Your holes lined up for shackles, mine do not.

But then why 5 holes in the tramp?

Quien sabe!
