PDQ 36 port windows- gasket

Does anyone know if/where we can buy a gasket/seal for the PDQ 36 portlights (the opening ones in the staterooms and bathroom? From my research it appears they were made by Bomar but unfortunately it appears that Bomar may not be supporting spares at this point?

I was thinking about cutting a piece of the gasket out and trying to match cross section shape if spares aren't available.

Thanks,
Doug and Nicole

Ok, I will let you know if I am able to find a similar-to gasket material.

Thanks,
Doug

Hi Doug,

Just read your post, I believe I ordered some of that gasket from bomar a little while ago. It is either in my garage or on the boat if you want to look at the id # on the package to get some. Let me know.

Cheers,

Jordi

Yes, please Jordi. I ordered what I thought was the right gasket and now I have 4 gaskets that don't fit :-(

Hi Guys,

Here are a couple photos of the Bomar gasket that I used. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Are the cabin & head portlights the same for all the 36s or did it change at some point? What hull number or year is your boat Jordi?
Thanks

We own Allez Cat, she is a 1991 PDQ 36 hull number 50. Don't know how long they kept those windows.

Jordi,
Allez Cat is hull #10...Hull #50 was not built until 1996 :-)

Hi Sam,

Thank you! I always get confused with the hull numbering system.

Cheers,
Jordi

No worries Jordi, so do I :-)

FYI, I just bought some of this gasket from Bomar, it should be here next week, will tell you how it fits on hull #15 :-)

I look forward to your update Sam. I have hull 19 so if it fits your boat it should also fit mine. I have a couple leaky port lights that can use some attention.

No luck, way too big, wrong gasket. I emailed Bomar and sent some photos to see if I can get the right gasket. I have attached the same photos here if anyone can identify the port model number. Plastic trim inside, aluminum outside, rain shade is not part of the assembly, added later. Window is 15x5 inches.

So...here is the reply from Bomar...

The gasket/ P3000-21 we sent you is for or 5,000/8,000 series line manufactured after the fall of 1994. If your existing ports were made prior to this year the replacement gasket should really be P3000-21-RETRO. The retro gasket is to take the place of the existing gasket we were using before the change made in the fall of 1994.

So I guess I needed to add "RETRO" to the end of the part number since we were built in 1991 :-)

So, I now have 13 ft of brand new P3000-21 for any of you who have boats built AFTER 1994. I paid $116 for it, make me an offer and I will send it to you so that it does not go to waste...

I have the Bomar 5000 series port/light/window as mentioned in the post of 2017. Bomar is no longer supporting this window. Do any of you know the source of the gasket. I mean Bomar was using an off-the-shelf gasket but whose? -mike 2001 Sailing PDQ Antares
