upper helm gps monitor shutting down

Post by jim »

Our upper helm gps monitor spontaneously shuts off and goes blank. If we reboot the lower helm monitor it comes back on. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Jim

Our upper helm chartplotter display has done the same thing once or twice. It is not a good feeling, especially when you really need it right then.

Our E120 Raymarine units already have a known problem where the driver circuit for the backlight display goes bad (getting dimmer and dimmer and then unusable). The repair is very costly for an obsolete unit. I suspect we will all need to replace them pretty soon.

Thanks Duane. I talked with a local GPS store who recommended I contact Raymarine and download any updates on a cf disc and load it on the unit. I’ll see how well that turns out. Jim

It appears my upper helm Raymarine E80 gps monitor has died. If anyone is aware of a working E80 upper helm gps monitor, I'm in the market for one. What are the options for replacing the upper monitor if a Raymarine E80 isn't available?
Also, I'm missing the data bank for the Raymarine 2k radar. Thanks, Jim
