9.9 Prop fairing

Post by amytom »

I posted this on CF during a 9.9HT discussion as well but...

While we're talking about the 9.9HP. Let me show my ignorance about the prop ring. I don't have the plastic fairings installed with my props. I was given one in a kit of spare parts but haven't tried it yet. What benefit should I see with it? Will this reduce cavitation?.

Can anyone help educate me?

Thanks

Tom

The high thrust 9.9 uses a special exhaust deflector which reduces cavitation, particularly in reverse. It locks to the splines in the prop hub and also acts as a spacer so the prop nut indexes correctly with hole in the prop shaft for the cotter pin.
