Engine Removal

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of how you disconnect the throttle and
transmission cables from the Yamaha 9.9's on the PDQ 36? It looks like you have
to remove the engine cowl to do so, but I figured someone here has surely had to
remove their engines at some point so I though I'd ask first. Thanks for any
helpful hints you can provide

Roger nailed it. I would add one thing that threw me the first time. There is a
rubber grommet that is between the bracket and the engine. Remember it's
placement when you put it back together. It can throw you off. It helps to have
really small hands

First - slide the gold/bright clips back so that the two control arms can be
removed from the pins
Second - on the inside of the engine, where the control arms enter the engine,
undo the two bolts holding a black plate on the outside of the engine
Last - unscrew the two screws on the top of that black plate that surrounds the
control arms on the outside of the engine
If you have adequate room, you can now remove (pull back) the whole assembly
You'll probably have to rotate it 90 degrees to clear the bracket that is part
of the engine casting
Installation is the reverse.
