Resolution for Engine loss of power and new issue

Well, after many good points and comments from people here we've found out the
issue was the fuel pump. It could very well have been the fuel bulb, but by
replacing it we were able to eliminate it. Almost every engine mechanic had the
same advise about fuel bulbs, use the manufacturer bulbs and not the generic
ones from West Marine. Our Yamaha is currently having problems. At 3/4 throttle
(which is what I normally have it set at for motoring) it will suddenly loss
power. Not stop, but loose power. Turning the engine off will allow it to keep
going. I'm thinking it very well could be the same problem with a different
engine. Thoughts?

P.S. If I were you I would still check the anti-siphon valve. Your new fuel pump
may just be strong enough now to overcome a sticking valve, but as it loses
strength,the problem may return

Chet's right again! Oil quantity & loss of oil pressure sometimes caused by a
clogged oil filter. In the past I would clean my oil filters & re-use them a
number of times. They eventually clogged, and I got exactly the same syptoms. New
filters & an oil change solved the problem. Amazing!
