Any Annapolis area suggestions?
Also, what is a fair price, motors as well as installed?

Re: New Yamahas
Call Andy Jr at Shipyard Island Marina, 800-213-3323. Tell him you want the PDQ Forum special. He does all the work and still sells the pair for $1K less than anywhere else I spoke to. I told him there were several folks on the forum looking for new motors, he just received a new shipment of 10 new motors ready to go. Mine arrive on 3 August, drop in replacement. He will refit them to your specifications to match your installation. I will post something more formal in the classified section in August once I receive mine.

Re: New Yamahas
I've installed a couple of sets from Andy (sadly not mine) and that is definitely the way to go. Keep the pull start and go with the manual tilt (you need two ropes on the new tilt lever, one up and one down) have Andy swap the wire harness from your old engines into the new ones and the whole package drops right in.
You will have to swap the throttle cable at the binnacle from pull to push.
The fuel line will also change over to the newer Yamaha style but the new hose fittings are included with the engines.
The newer engines are a little smaller and the cable connections are much better.
If four captains want to have me do the installs with my total payment being the fifth set I won't complain. Of course I won't hold my breath either...

Re: New Yamahas
a. I ordered from Andy. Yes, I like the simpler setup. I found power tilts from a good local guy for the same price, but alas, that's not what I wanted.
b. No, that it was Friday the 13th was not lost on me. My day also included...
- car was rear ended at 40 MPH on the interstate. No damage. The only thing that saved it was that I heard his brakes and gassed it a bit.
- swam with a jellyfish.
- threw my new camera (very nice) in the Chesapeake.
- head fan died.

Re: New Yamahas
I finished the install and posted a description, for anyone who sees re-powering in their future. I actually tried to find a contractor, but they all had big delays, big prices, and wanted to haul the boat. A tough project? Not a walk in the park, but not unreasonable if the weather is fair... which it was not (98F and near 100% humidity). But no smashed fingers or pulled back muscles.
