Thanks for the advice, for the kind of sailing/livaboard it sounds like the
diesels are the ticket, It also seems that the diesels do better in rough
conditions due to the placement, the outboards seemed to want to come out of a
wave a little sooner than desired

Actually, that has never been a problem. I had more cavitation on my 36 ft mono
hull than I have seen on the 32. I believe the diesels would have good slow
manuvering because of the constant prop wash over the rudder but then the Gas
engine do a great job for me in docking situations. Lots to think about. Good
