Washington DC Recommendations

Post by Kokomo »

On our way south, we are planning to take the boat to Washington DC in early October. Any tips, recommendations, anchorage advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

hi,

we're planning the same trip, albeit later in october, so we'll be interested in anything you find out.

We've had our boat (before PDQ) and gang plank marina right up the Washington Channel - pretty decent and pretty close to everything and safe. They've recently updated their faciliaties too. I've also seen transient folks also anchor in the channel instead of tying up very well protected in about 20ft of water.

Funny you should ask. Both Rich and I have done it. We used Gang whatever. Anchor in 20', 2 anchors, notify the police. Eillen Quinn and David had great success with the yacht club a bit farther up the channel.

A trip not to be missed.
