Does anyone know if the mooring field will ever be available again?

Last we heard, and that was in the early spring of 2008, was that there will be another mooring field but it will be located either SW of the previous location (on the same side of the St Lucie River) or more likely, diagonally across the river to the WSW.

A suggestion would be to contact Dick or Carol Tuschick at Rhumbline Yacht Sales (866-520-7597). Their new office is next to the Stuart City Marina office.

The City of Stuart has leased the city marina to Wayne Huizenga & Co. Huizenga is building a mix of docks, retail, condos and whatever can make some $'s. The concern is what will the cost be to dock or moor.
A good place to anchor (good holding) is in the North Fork of the St. Lucie river. Across and around the bend from the city marina. Off from the Deck restaurant and marina.
An even better place to stay is ~6 miles south of the St. Lucie inlet, on the intracoastal. It has electric. It is my community dock.
If Kokomo makes it to Stuart, please give us a call. 561.222.6121

Hi Folks,
Just a quick update on Stuart Facilities...The new SUNSET HARBOR marina (with moorings) is now open. Certainly one of the nicest facilities in southern FL. Very reasonable prices and in walking distance of 30+ restaurants and everything else the cruiser may need. This is now a must stop for anyone heading south/across the waterway, or to the Bahamas. Highly recommended!!! :D

In the infinite words of the male Clinton, "that depends on what your definition of is (reasonable) is". Can you provide relative prices?

The Sunset Bay Marina and Anchorage recently opened at this site. We (Ocean Blue Yacht Sales) are directly across the street in the old Rhumb Line office. There is a restaurant called Sailor's Return opening next to the Marina around November 7th or 8th this year. It's a brand new building built in the same Key West style as the Marina building which was remodeled and expanded. There is an outside bar and eating as well as inside. There is also a stage for a band right next to the new waterfall they built. It overlooks the Marina and the draw bridge.

The anchorage is adjacent to the marina on the south side. The marina has two floaing dingy docks that are for the mooring customers.

Because the Marina is on city land there is also complimentary dockaage in front of the new restaurant for people that want to dock for a while to eat dinner, etc.

As far as pricing, I don't know exactly, but they are now full for year round docks and have a waiting list. I think they charge around $8.00 a ft. for the docks. I know that many boaters have moved from other Marinas in the area because it was cheaper here.

Hope this helps.
