Bermuda by the senic route

"Mojo" cleared Man 'O War inlet, Abaco ,Bahamas at 0800 on April 15th. Had fours
days of "great sailing", two days of "wing and wing", winds from the SW at 12 to
14 and seas 6 to 8. On Thurs. April 19th we were 80 miles from our Bermuda way
point when the wind decided we had enough free ride. The wind "clocked' to NE at
24 knots ( right on the nose) and we "scratched' for the next two days. One
forty mile tack, we gained 8 miles to target, it was time for Yamaha power!
Motor sailed for the next thiry hours or so makin' 3.2 VMG, ugly times! We
cleared custom in St Georges, Bermuda around 2:00 p.m. on Sat April 21. In
total, with the "ugly tacks", we covered about 850 miles, this boat never ceases
to amaze me! I know the term "blue water" is used on everything from pontoon
boats to jet skis. but I have complete confidence in the ability of this vessel
in off shore conditions. I couldn't ask for any more! We are leaving the boat at
The Dockyard Marina in the southern end of the island at least through May and
will then decide if we want to see the Azores. Good Sailing!

Way to go Jack! It's great to see people getting their PDQ's out there and
showing the world what great boats they are! The Azores would be a fantastic
trip -- I can't wait to hear what's next

Jack, glad you made it OK, hope you don't miss Abaco too much. I'm headed down
to Marsh Harbor on Friday to go sailing for a week ... taking a monohuller with
me!
All is well with Phenix here in Chicago, sailed Saturday and Sunday!
Email me is you know Howard's whereabouts

Marc - Thanks for the kind words. No real big problems: something has snagged
inside the boom and I was unable to get the first reefing point loose (without
undoing the line), in talking with Selden, they think I may have one of the cars
inside the boom with a twist in in it. They were very helpful. I also have
gotten quite a bit of water in the forward starboard bilge compartment, it's
always been very dry and I have not found the source, it is seawater

Regards/Jack

Hi Jack, I have the same problem, & I suspect it may be water entering thru the
bilge pump outlet. I had a similar problem on the port side& I'me still trying
to work it out

Good luck ,Marc
