Mojo in Marsh Harbour

Forget the record run to the Abacos! Got underway last Friday (Nov 15) and had
lousy weather. The GS had 40 to 45 knot winds so "Herb" said don't even think
about it. Three days down the dreaded ditch and stuck our heads outside at
Little River, SC (great inlet!). Herb still advised not to try the crossing so
we stayed just off the coast down to northern fla. Couldn't stand it anymore and
went for the crossing (widest part of the GS and too far north! Really stupid!
Half way over the wind died to zilch and also the port Yamaha decided to do the
same. Getting fuel but no spark, must be the stater or I guess the cdi ignition

The little stbd engine could barely keep up with the GS influence, when I
relieved the 12 to 3 watch our ground speed was 1.4 knots with a VMG of -6. My
crew member wanted to know what this meant...all I could answer was, we're goin'
backwards! Finally arrived off Spanish Cay just as it was gettin dark on Friday
night. This is the stuff that makes my hair grey! This is a very straight
forward inlet if you need to pop inside that far north. The marina is nice(.85
per ft dockage) and customs came down at 6:00pm, cleared us with no overtime
charges, pleasant surprise. Great sail down to Marsh on Saturday, cleaned the
boat and got back to NC yesterday. Goin' back down in two weeks with a box of
spare electrical components and try to find the gremlin. Best/Jack "mojo" 36078

Yes, we plan to continue south after the Abacos with many stops along the way to
Georgetown. While at the SSCA gam, I picked up several boxes of school supplies
that I promised to deliver to Georgetown, so it's definitely on the itinerary

We are looking forward to our first winter there, and will certainly be on the
lookout for fellow PDQ-ers.

Hi Chet: Don't think we'll make Georgetown, done it several times in the past

Just a little too crowded for us. Was actually going on down to Provo,in the
Turks&Caicos but I flew done there three weeks ago, not much in the way of
marinas(very inconvenient)or close by cruising. I'll probably bring the boat
back in April, going to try and do the Charleston,SC to Bermuda race in
May..they've got a cruising multi hull class this year. Thanks for the advise on
the Yamahas. Best Regards/Jack Coulter "Mojo" 36078

Hi Harriet & Jack,
Wondering if either of you are cruising the Exumas after the Abacos? They are
beautiful islands and warmer (further South) than Abacos

There will be several PDQs in Georgetown this Winter & Spring. Its a short hop
down to Spanish Wells and then to the Exumas

Cruising Regatta starts the 28th of Feb this year(in Georgetown) with the island
regatta sometime in April

Jack, I think you're on the right track with engine problem. CDI or stator. They
can be checked with analog ohm-meter and compare values to shop manual

Jack,
I assume you are planning to do some cruising in the Abacos this winter. We will
be there in mid/late December. We would love to meet up with you if you will be
in the area at that time. Best of luck on tracking down your gremlin
