wireless telephone in Bahamas

First I would like to thank the many experienced Bahamas sailors who have replied with wonderful information for my upcoming first trip to the Bahamas on CATNAP.

I use a verizon wireless telephone, and I was told by Verizon, that in the Bahamas I could call out for $.65 per minute, roaming charge, but would not recive any calls via Verizon, since they block all incoming calls due to fraud etc. Which also means I can not use their (verizons) option to connect to the internet either.

Can anyone recommend an alternative wireless and internet connection I might avail myself to for the 2 month I plan to be in the Bahamas?

Verizon MAY or may not work in the Bahamas, depending on where u go. The further south as in George Town, it is questionable. The only phone and internet I know works for sure is a satellite phone.
