Need Trampoline for 1994 PDQ 36

Post by Sailshare »

It is time for a new trampoline for my 1995 PDQ 36 Classic Catamaran. I sem to remember getting one made by a compnay in the Tampa, Florida area, but cannot seem to locate them. I called Ned Calvert at PDQ Yachts, but haven't herd back form him. Does anyone have the contact info for a good trampoline maker?

It's Sunrise Yacht Products.

They're in Pinellas Park, FL

Phone 813-526-9288

They just did a tramp for my 1996 PDQ 36 LRC (36052) last year. They did a great job. They should still have my measurements; ask them about a net they did for Brendan Burke in Chicago.

Send me a message if you have any questions.

Thanks so much Brendan. I guess their area code changed to 727.

Smooth Sailing,

No Problem.

BTW, I've been thinking about a new main sail for next year. You mentioned Calvert. Have you used them before? I was thinking about calling them....I'd love to get a main which has more roach than the stock main.

Dennis,

Sunrise made one for our 1994 LRC 3 years ago. Great job for us also.

Hi Dennis,

Triton Sails in Mississauga, Ontario made both the sails and the nets for our boat Allezcat(Hull#10). About 4 years ago they made a new set of nets for Allezcat and SomeDaySoon(Hull#11). They did a wonderful job, the nets fit perfectly, and they were very reasonably priced. The contact I have is Ron Fernandez at 905-891-8166

The trampolines on Phenix (32-007) are on their last legs so I saw this thread and called:

Sunrise Yacht Products.
Pinellas Park, FL
Phone 727-526-9288
http://www.multihullnets.com

I spoke to them and they described some options that would work for me, I also have a message into Salwa at PDQ and also a message into Triton Sails. I will wait for their return calls.

I'll post here the pricing options and what I decide to do.

Hi,

You can contact Ron at Triton Sails in Toronto at 905-891-8166. He has the template for the trampolines for both the PDQ 32 and PDQ 36. You can also email Ron at info@tritonsails.com

Trampolines - Triton Sails

I worked with Ron at Triton Sails last fall for my PDQ 32. He has the templates to match it perfectly. I'm very pleased with it.

Well, the stitching on Phenix's trampoline came undone on one side, so something had to be done. Then I remembered that when I bought Phenix in 1999, the owner gave me a set of trampolines that were used one year. So I took the 12yo trampolines off and put on the spares. By myself, a "fun" afternoon (funny how your friends disappear when there is work to be done!)

They are the "more flexible" kind (rope material rather than plastic) and are not as stable to stand up on, but they are much more comfortable for lounging!! I have not decided whether I will make new plastic ones.

The quote from Sunrise was about $850 for a new set, and I didn't get a return call from Triton.

This is a follow-up to my last post. I got the trampolines made at Sunrise, they were about 3 days late (not bad considering I ordered in February and they told me May 10!). They look great, I hope they fit, I'm going to put them on tomorrow.

I'll probably use the same lines as I used on the old ones, but just in case, can anyone tell me what the smallest line size and stretch that I can use that would be safe and functional?

Try new line, it wont be U.V. weakened, discoloured, or have set turns in it, and much easier to work with.

I'm also working on new trampolines for our 32. I bought the material from Sailrite and am crossing my fingers that it turns out okay. I hope to get a bunch of the work done this weekend depending on the Admiral's "Honey Do" list.

For the lacing rope I bought 5/16" sta-set. found it at the WM bargain center for $0.24 / foot. I also picked up new sail slides to mount it to the cross bar at the bow. They came from Sailrite via special order.

Mine is also a 32' (32-007). What is the length of rope you bought for crossbar and middle section?

At the bargain center my options were limited to cut lengths only. The one I picked up was 70'. I'm thinking (hoping) that will be enough.
