Hot water

Posted by Don Wilson on June 29, 19100 at 07:14:57:

We have the original hot water system with the Wolter heater. The heater works
fine but the hot water pressure is substantially
less than the cold water. We did a bypass and pressure was Ok so the restriction
is in the heater which has a 1/4" NPT fitting

Do other boats of the vintage, 1993, have the same problem and if any solutions
have been found I'd sure like to know.

Don; If you are real carefull you can remove the flow valve from the heater and
clean the filter housing and the shuttle that controls the water flow. 10psi is
all that is needed to start the heater, and since the water is hotter at lower
psi than high, control of the pressure can be controled by the cold water mix.

Hi Don!
Our Wolter heater is still working fine, and the pressure
is comparable to the cold water pressure. We do find that the
only way to get hot water at the galley is to run it really slowly
for a couple of minutes, but I guess that's to be
expected givent he distance the water travels. I thing that I did notice
a "troubleshooting guide that mentioned something about low pressure
and how to diagnose and fix it though. If you don't have the manual
let me know

Having just bought the boat, I find myself wondering if
parts will be a challenge to find since Wolter Marine went
out of business a while back.

For Sale: Yamaha 9.9's

Posted by Martin McKim on June 26, 19100 at 12:07:16:

Kevin has kindly given his permision for us to advertise the sale of our two
Yamaha 9.9 engines. We hope to be spending an extended time cruising in the near
future, and as the warranty on our engines has recently expired we have decided
to replace them with new ones

The original engines are 1998 models, supplied new and fitted by the factory in
our 1998 Altair. The model number is T9.9EXRW. The initial servicing was
performed by the factory and has since been undertaken by myself every 100
hours. The engines have now been run for 590 hours. Both engines run cleanly,
burn no oil and use the same amount of gas. If it wasn't that we like the
security of a warranty they wouldn't be for sale

At the moment they are still installed in 'Aquila', and until I can fit the new
ones I will be more than happy to demonstrate them. We are located on Florida's
central Gulf Coast. We are asking $1650 each, or $3000 the pair. This will be
for the engines 'as removed' and will also include the hour-meters

So as not to clutter the board, could you please reply directly by e-mail:[/i]

Thanks,
Martin
