Manual Windlass

Has anyone installed a manual horizontal or vertical windlass on their PDQ? If
so, what's been your experience?
We already have a Sprint 1000 but would like to mount a second manual windless
(probably horizontal) on the port side - if it makes sense? Honestly, I've never
heard of anyone having a positive or negative opinion on the manual versions. Is
anyone using them?

Sharon,
What make/model of windlass do you have? We will be in the market for one soon,
and any info you have would be welcomed. Thanks.

Sorry this is so late but we just got back from the Bahamas so wasn't able to
get on the site again until now. We only have a manual windlass and I wouldn't
have it any other way. During this year in the Bahamas, we knew 3 boats with
electric windlass that went bad on them. Once something goes bad or breaks, they
couldn't use their windlass! And getting parts was verrrry difficult. So my take
is give me my manual windlass, thank you

Roger,
We installed a SL Tiger 555 manual on our 36 and have found it to be most
excellent. We had an electric on our previous boat, but she also had a 6 foot
draft and 150' feet of chain

Ours is a verticle mount and it has manual reverse as well, although we have
never used it to let the hook down. No problems to date and well worth the
investment

Regards,
Tom
