Norcold fridge icebox door

Post by Stray Cat »

The very thin plastic portion of the front frame of the icebox door broke as soon as we left Whitby. This liberated the pin on the right side of the icebox door that serves both as hinge and spring closer. The quick fix was to ductape a sponge to the inside of the main fridge door to hold the icebox door in place, and the long term solution is to use heavy duty double sided foam tape (gorilla grip) to attach a carefully cut piece of .025 inch brass shim with a flatted hole carved in it to replace the hole in the damaged frame. Works great, except I got the orientation of the flats wrong, so the spring closing part is out of whack. I will fashion a new piece and replace soon, as frost builds up much faster if the door isn't held closed.
