LPG propane tanks

Post by Lady of the Lake »

Anyone know the proper weight for a full 10 lb aluminum propane tank? I would prefer to have it filled by weight rather than by volume. Sometimes I need a refill before the tank is totally empty and the local guy just fills it blindly without purging the tank and without using the scale. I guess he is relying on the OPD but I am not sure I want the tank overfilled only to have it outgass in the hot car on the way back to the marina. Any suggestions? How do you all handle propane refills?

Can't tell you the proper weight but can tell you that the best place I have found is in Titusville on Hopkins near the Save-A-Lot. I have been going there for several years and they have been very fair and efficient
