Entec Generators

Post by Mary Pamela Kilmer »

This information was given to Rick & I by Hugh Koellhoffer- We thought it would be helpful.

Hugh reports...
"You might want to warn any PDQ owners with Entec West generators (our boat had one) that the water pump housing will probably disintegrate around the 200 hour operating time line unless they replace the water pump mounting hardware with the hardware that comes with the replacement water pump housing.

Entec West is aware of the design flaw and instead of notifying customers to upgrade the mounting bracket they let the OEM unit fail and force the customer to purchase a whole new assembly ($300.00+/-). Ours failed after 194 hours while in a remote area of the Bahamas. We ended up cutting our trip short as we could not get the part in the islands and definitely needed a generator. Also, the people at Entec West "jerked" me around for nearly a year before issuing a partial reimbursement."
