Extra Keys

Post by Sno' Dog »

Looking ahead to the Adventure, it appears that we may need some extra boat keys as both the shipper, plus anyone handling the boat at either end, may want their very own copies.

As you've probably noticed, our cabin door keys are double-sided and not easily copied. I did find however (by going to their website: http://www.southco.com/contact ) that extra copies are easily available by mail. If you call them at: 610-459-4000 and ask for customer service and give them the number stamped on your key (your "key-code") they will happily send you duplicate keys for a mere $4 each. I just ordered 4.

Extra Keys

Tom,
I ordered my keys this morning - Friday 3/30. They told me $4/ea plus $2 (approx) for shipping.
(Maybe, they meant $2 apiece for shipping?)
Haven't seen the bill yet - or the keys!
I assume we all have similar keys? (I never mentioned they were for a boat - maybe that costs extra :) )
Who knows?

PS: Are you planning on joining the Baltic trip? We need all the boats we can get!

When Peter goofed and lost yet another key, he went to a locksmith nearby and had copies of the keys made. They work, and are a lot cheaper than the "real" ones from Southco.

Since we have to leave the engine keys with Sevenstar, we just ordered new sets as spares from Mack Boring. I think they were about $8 or $9 each, plus shipping. But we got them in two days.
We went cruising for a few years.
After 20 years we are STILL "cruising for a few years".
