1997 PDQ 32 Altair LRC

Post by bbhawn »

This PDQ32 spent the last 3 winters in the Florida Keys and the springs cruising the islands of the Bahamas. She is equipped to be off the grid, with solar panel and wind generator. Low engine hours, LED lighting. She's ready for her next trip. Currently on a mooring in Marathon. For a complete list of details, please email: seashellsbb@yahoo.com.

Also check our www.pdq36.com for PDQs for sale, we have 32s listed on that site also.

Thanks Sam. I've watched pdq36.com for a few weeks now. We lost our Dragonfly trimaran in Matthew and are now considering pdq 32's a a solid next boat for the family.

Thanks for the offer Sam!
Based on budget (always the constraint, eh?) we've determined that a 32 is the right size. Given haul out, marina fees, etc.

So I'm just in the early stages of the hunt. I've not inquired on Knotty Cat yet but that boat might be on the list.
We are in Savannah and I'm guessing that limits us to East coast options and possibly south into warmer waters.
Can 32's be shipped over land? I'd not considered West coast or Canadian options due to my assumption.

I so appreciate your gracious offer to help. Trust me, I'm quick to own what I don't know and ask for help so I'll now count you among my counsel.

I own a 36, lets see if we can bring in Tom on Doghouse, he is a 32 owner and very responsive on the forum.

Cogniz,

While I don't know each individual boat on the market I've spent quite a bit of time researching repairs and mods for the 32. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have and if I don't know the answer maybe Drew (thinwater) will. He is literally writing the book on sailing and maintenance. Well, magazine articles at least.

If we don't respond right away just send a PM to get our attention.

I know David Love as I took him for a sail on my 32 before he had chance to sail on his own. I have had contact with him several times since - he came by last fall to get some measurements for making a winter cover for his boat which was not in the area at the time. He seems to be the type that would look after a boat very well.

Thank you both for the offer to provide input. Truly helpful and gives me assurance that this community of owners is alive and well!
I've contact Mr. Love and am waiting on some photos.
He posted previously here that he replaced the mast. Is this typical as a correction to poor design or perhaps a repair?

Also, can a PDQ 32 be shipped over land / trucked?

Thanks Barbara.
Good to know your boat is available. We are focused on the Altair for now but certainly will keep your boat in mind. Have a great week!

Our boat is an Altair Long Range Cruiser with inboard diesel engines. Low hours.
