Does anyone else want to order four bladed props?

Post by Golden »

Anybody out there with a PDQ 34 that wants to join me in the purchase of a set of 4 bladed props? It is my understanding that if we can organize the purchase of 4 sets or more, there is a significant discount.

hi,

you don't mention whether you have 75 or 100 hp engines.

Thanks, Russ! That's correct, we have 75 hp Yanmars and should have mentioned it.

I have the 75 hp Yanmars and may be ready to bite the bullet and upgrade to the 4-blade props - - any idea of the cost?

H&H Prop in Salem, MA is where we ordered the props. Jim Blanchard is the contact. I also know that Myron on Time for Us is interested in placing an order as well. I just forwarded Jim's info to Myron today.

There are now two of us.

My boat is being hauled tomorrow because I either have a bent port shaft or an engine misaligned. If the shaft is bent, I may be visiting a prop shop and may have some more information. Recently I visited with Precision Propeller in Newburgh, NY and he said that making a set of 4 bladed props for my PDQ is not that big a problem. I hope to find out more tomorrow when I visit a prop shop locally known for their excellent work. I will send out something in the next few days.

Don't know if anyone is looking for a pair of spare 3-bladed props but Diana and I are looking to sell ours.

They came off our MV34 hull 88. We went to 4-blades and don't really want to carry these around with us anymore.

In good condition, definitely some nicks so they are fine as short-term backups or could be reconditioned for longer-term use.

Don't know what would be a fair price but we can figure that out together, as well as a drop-off location or shipping, if anyone is interested.

Best, Mark

hi mark,

do you have 75s or 100s? i haven't seen any good data on the difference between 3 and 4 blades on the 75s.

Hey John,

We have the 100s. And we like the 4-blades. Quieter below and silent up top. But don't really have much data either … only anecdotal subjective feelings … as we swapped out the 3's to the 4's near immediately.

Best,
