You guys and gals that have the Northern Lights generator, check the exhaust elbow NOW, its welded cast and when it fails you will ruin the generator. I sucked salt water into engine, caught it in time to be able to repair. these things happen at 3:00 AM in Fl.!!!!! New Gen, alm0st $9000.00.

Is it the elbow that exits the expansion tank (see attached schematic part #10)?

Hey George, yes, it's the wet exhaust elbow # 10 in schematic.

Just had mine checked and replaced on Mr. Busy. The elbow was close to failure. Replaced with the stainless option. While we were at it I had the exhaust elbows checked on both mains. One had a very small pinhole and the other was worn significantly. Replacement cost for the Yanmar elbows was 269.00 ea. and the Northern Lights elbow was $284.00.
