We are new owners of a PDQ36. One issue we are having is a wonderful smell from the head and after some investigation, it appears it may be time to replace the hoses. One question before I rip the bathroom apart is where does the hose from the toilet to the holding tank connect to the holding tank? And how does it route? It appears to go under the floor and under the sink. If so, do I remove the cabinet to access?

Where does head hose connect to holding tank?
Re: Where does head hose connect to holding tank?
Don't know (PDQ 32 owner). Can't you use the old hose to guide the new hose? Lubing with K-Y or glycerine can help (never oil and better than soap).
Just don't go back with white sanitation hose if you want it to last.

Jim,
We have the newer model with separate shower and the discharge hose runs under the floor from the head to the opposite side of the shower where it can be viewed thru the inspection panel at the bottom of the shower. It continues back thru the bulkhead and can be seen entering the holding tank thru the starboard aft hatch. Jim

thinwater;
That was my plan--but I always assume some disaster will happen and want to know where the darn things go! And thanks for the link on the sanitation hose.
Jim;
Thanks for the info. We have a newer version as well (with the separate shower). I see a hose to the holding tank in through the inspection panel at the bottom of the shower. I assumed this was the exit hose from the holding tank out to the pump out port on the side of the boat.

Re: Where does head hose connect to holding tank?
Jim,
No, the hose from the toilet goes under the bathroom floor, then on the side of the shower (you can see it when you open then inspection port), then through the bulkhead to the holding tank.
The "exit hose" should be a single hose exiting the holding tank which then splits into two hoses at a valve in the starboard aft lazarette. If the valve is turned one way, the pump out goes to the seawater. The other way goes to the deck pump out.

You will also need to employ a minion to hop down into the lazarette to attach those hoses, a bonafide PIA.

Try a couple of doses of Odorlos. We had the same problem and it got rid of the smell without replacing the hoses. you can buy it at Campingworld (cheaper) or West Marine.

^^ +1
Perhaps, though permeated hoses are typically done. But Oderlos will...
a. Reduce vent odors.
b. Slow future hose permeation.
I use diluted Camco Ultra (same basic formula) as a bowl spray, which also seems to help a good bit.

Re: Where does head hose connect to holding tank?
Thanks all;
We will start with Odorlos--can't hurt. If that doesn't work, replacing the hoses! Appreciate all the replies.
