Our ice maker is located to the right of the Flybridge helm. For the 3rd time the GFI receptical powering the ice maker has tripped and it looks like the GFI is toast. When this GFI trips, it takes out the electrical receptical built into the flybridge bench port side aft, which is also a GFI plug.
Getting to the bad GFI is not easy, one needs to crawl into the locker to the left of the helm , crawl to the back of the ice maker and reset the GFI. Not possible for most people to get in there, gotta be small and limber, which I am not. Question is, replace the GFI with a GFI receptical or just a standard receptical, and is it ok to have 2 GFI’s in series?

Re: Ice maker GFI
If it is down stream of another GFI there is no advantage in it being GFI. One receptical protects the string. Look at the wiring instructions.

Re: Ice maker GFI
Hi Ross,
I had the ice maker GFI moved to the right side of the door opening. Now if it needs a reset I just open the door and it's an easy click.
