Cabinet Storage?
Cabinet Storage?
Has anyone attempted to create a new cabinet to the right of the beverage cabinet in the salon? As best I can measure it, there sure seems to be an approx. 9"D x 20"H x 18W" dead space to the right facing the beverage cabinet. Seems like you could build a storage cabinet with a hinged door identical to the beverage cabinet.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
I replaced my stereo and had a look in there. It is all empty space. I would love to use that space. Maybe when I get back to the states.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
Did you measure or take any pics of the space. How did you get into it to see it?

Re: Cabinet Storage?
Mac,
Sorry, I did not measure or take pics. I got in by removing the stereo for replacement. It was held in by some mild adhesive only, so I gently pried it out. I could see in through the hole pretty well. The space goes all the way to the floor and accesses the cable run across the bottom of the boat under the step in front of the table, but not directly. Wires came up into that dead space from further down on the port side, but not too hard to get to. It appears that we could create a locker there at least as big as the existing one just to the left of the dead space.
Every boat I have owned has had some dead space like this.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
So that’s supposed to be a beverage cabinet?
The previous owner just had boat stuff in there so I have been
doing the same thing. Sounds like a trip to the liquor store is in order..
I can’t believe I never knew this. It sure seems like another cabinet could go
next to that one but now my mind is preoccupied with the “ Beverage Cabinet”

This is interesting... I'm getting the impression that our boats are set up differently... Here's a pic of the beverage cabinet on our boat. So, what do you guys have on yours?

Re: Cabinet Storage?
Ours is the same, but we put trays on the top shelf for all sorts of little stuff we use frequently. We also removed the lower bottle separator so we could get more in. As long a you keep the space full with bottles, they cannot move around enough to break.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
Duane, have you ever considered creating an identical storage cabinet to the right (facing) of your beverage cabinet?

Re: Cabinet Storage?
No, Mac. We feel we have plenty of stowage as it is and there are many other things on the boat that take my time and money.
I would not blame you if you wanted to do it, but we have no plans for it. Good luck if you do!

Mac,
If you do put the cabinet in, please post pictures.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
It's on my WISH list... Given that we are facing replacing our failing 2.5 years old Northstar SMS480 AGM batterires right now, we won't do it until next Fall for sure.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
If memory serves me, the space outboard of the “beverage” cabinet was used for the optional washer/ dryer combo that was offered as an upgrade.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
I've heard that too but have never seen a picture of it. It's hard to imagine how a washer/dryer unit could fit into that 8-9" deep cabinet... I wonder if the bench behind the cabinet had to be modified to accommodate the depth of the washer/dryer.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
We don't have the washer and dryer but I have seen them. The cabinet is about twice as deep and the L seat is shortened to accommodate.

Re: Cabinet Storage?
I think I have a brochure on the boat that shows the W/d combo installed. I will look and post if I still have it.
