communications at sea
We are preparing 1 Cool Cat for an extended cruise through the Caribbean leaving Halifax this fall but need to keep in touch with things at home. Looking at all options for email , internet, and voip. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I use a Globalstar satphone with OCENS email. I also use OCENS weather software also. G* has monthly or yearly plans.. I chose an 1800 minute yearly plan for $799. I installed the hands free setup with the marinized antenna.
Email is a snap since the software compresses the mail before delivering it and then decompressess it in your computer. Normally get 5 emails in 10-15 seconds of phone time.
This setup has worked great for the last two years to and from and in the Bahamas.
