Transom Pads

Posted by Chet White on December 27, 2003 at 20:57:00:

I am considering installing rubber transom pads (manuf by Tempo)on my 36 Classic
to absorb some of the shock & vibration of the Yamaha 9.9's. Has anyone done
this or have any comments on this?

I used some scrap rubber sheets (free) they helped a great deal. I was told you
can also insulate the hatch top, although I have not done this.

I tried insulating the hatch cover, with some fairly expensive insulating
material specifically designed for that purpose, and could not detect a
difference compared to the uninsulated side. It's also rather heavy and you have
to seal any exposed foam or it soaks up water from splashing

I'm going to try the transom pad thing in the spring, though, thanks for the tip
