Battery Meters Monitor .....

Post by phild »

While looking at a Capella this weekend for a possible purchase I noticed the fourth battery monitor position did not appear to be functioning. Is this an indication of a bad battery? What exactly are these meters monitoring? Start #1, Start #2, House ?????? Advice would be appreciated!

I am not familiar with the meters you identify. I have hull #89 and there is a single battery meter on the DC control panel. It has a switch with 3 positions. The first measures the house bank. (I only have one house bank) The second measures the single starting battery that is associated with the port engine. The third measures nothing. The boat you were looking at may have had separate starting batteries for each engine and hooked up each to the meter.

My mistake - the setup had a single meter with a four position switch, three of which appeared in use with the fourth apparently a spare. I was looking at hull 36094.
