Louisiana & Texas sailing

I'm taking Tranquility to the New Orleans Jazz Fest and am considering a cruz further west along the Louisiana & Texas coast, mainly cuz we haven't been there. I know there are some Texas owners, so any suggestions would be appreciated. How does it compare to sailing along the Florida Pan Handle, Alabama & Mississippi?
